Toni Braxton has seen it all. Fame and fortune were behind every door that she opened once. Her single Unbreak My Heart is still considered one of the best songs of all time. Her work won her the Grammy Award but very soon financial woes began to dog her every step. Apparently she thought the good times were just going to continue forever. They probably could have if she did not spend her money recklessly and irresponsibly. She may have enough singing talent to bring the house down but her financial sense is lacking some substance.
Bankruptcy Wouldn’t Stop Foreclosure
Braxton has filed for bankruptcy twice in her life. The latest Chapter 7 liquidation filing was put forward by her attorneys in 2010. Her bankrupt status did not stave off the foreclosure attorneys though as the U.S. federal court judge has given the go-ahead sign for her Georgia home to be foreclosed upon.
Not Thinking
Many celebrities have needed foreclosure attorneys in recent times. Veteran actor Burt Reynolds is the latest name added to the list. Braxton is also in terrible mortgage debt since she owes a whopping $1.5 million on her mortgage payments that she has no means to make good. She should have continued singing or at least working. Did she think she would receive special treatment?
She Quit a Long Time Ago – Why?
U.S. bankruptcy court Judge Barry Russell was the man who ordered the Chapter 7 liquidation shield to be lifted off her property so that the Duluth, Georgia home may be foreclosed upon. Foreclosure attorneys could have helped her create a mortgage repayment plan and negotiate with the bank but it is a little too late in the day for damage control and she does not have the means to access that kind of money anyway.
